indian food withdrawal in Ellicott City

I just know there must be some good indian restaurants and grocery stores in the Ellicott City/Catonsville-ish area, but I have no idea where to find them. Meanwhile, I wander the streets aimlessly, and dream of saag paneer and chicken tikka masala.....Can anyone help a sister out?

  1. I haven't eaten at Indian Delite on Frederick road in Catonsville for a long time so no informed opinion can be ventured here. Fortunately,Columbia is only fifteen minutes from Ellicott City, and IMO The Mango Grove on Dobbin road near Route 175 has truly excellent vegetarian south Indian cuisine. For chicken tikka masala and other meat dishes both House of India on Snowden River parkway and Bombay Peacock Grill off Old Columbia road about a mile away are very good.

    1. House of India's "Prawn Kabob Masala" is awesome. I think I tried their Chicken Tikka Masala once, as well, and really liked it.....

      1. I love, love, love Indian Delight on Frederick Road in Catonsville (mentioned above). I go there maybe twice a month and my two favorites - you're in luck - are chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. Their naan can't be beat, either, in my opinion. Plus, the restaurant is BYOB, so if you are in the mood for eating out, that is always a bonus in my book. The owner, Mr. Kash, is always so friendly and talkative every time we go in.

The restaurant's website is (NOT indian delight dot com as I embarrasingly found out one day AT WORK)... oops!

        1. If you feel like driving 20 minutes south, I would try Bombay in the White Oak Shopping Center right at Route 29 and New Hampshire Avenue. We have had several excellent meals there. A little too spicy for my wife, but I can twist her arm every so often.

          1. I would also recommend Indian Delight on Frederick Road in Catonsville. And strangely enough my favorites are also the chicken tikka masala and the saag paneer. If you are looking for a third option to add to the mix get the aloo gobi... also very tasty... and order the onion naan to go with it... yummy!
