Gourmet Market Recommendation Needed - South SF Bay

  • 6

Can a fellow hound please help me with a market recommendation in the south SF bay area (specifically Burlingame, San Mateo, Millbrae, Hillsborough areas). I need to stock up on pork chops, steaks, great wines, pate, assorted cheeses, great produce, etc. before heading to Yosemite for a week of cooking and fun with friends. Many thanks for your help.

    1. Definitely Draegers. They have the best quality and selection for sure. Huge assortment of imported items, their wine selection is excellent. My go-to place for anything chowish.

      1. Although Draegers is great and beautiful, I have to recommend Lunardi's in burling game for their meat and produce which is superior I feel to Draegers, at least for the money. Cheese and wine I guess I would give the nod to Draegers.

        1. I have to agree with Lunardi's. They have great produce, great prices and pretty good meat. I think their beef is choice graded. I only buy the "natural" branded pork chops at Lunardi's. I like Whole Foods, San Mateo for their cheese selection since you get samples from the people behind the cheese counter.

          1. Draeger's is your best bet on upscale variety, but Whole Foods San Mateo bats a strong second, and they'll be more affordable all-around.

            1. Try Roberts Market in Woodside or Draegers in San Mateo, Menlo Park or Los Altos. Piazzas is also very good. They have stores in Palo Alto and San Mateo.
