Indian Restaurant in SF?

    Shalimar on Jones and Geary is a nice and authentic place

      Agree that it is authentic and tasty.

      "Nice" is not the first word I'd use to describe it, though! :-)

      i tried pretty much all of the indian restaurants that have gotten any decent reviews when i first moved to the city. my personal favs are lahore karahi where the saag is great as is the tandoori, and aslams rasoi in the mission is very nice as well, though on the more expensive end of the spectrum.

        Darbar and Sultan are best in the city. Indian Oven gets mixed reviews on this board. Never been to Massala, so I can't comment.

          Indian Ovens if you are in the Lower Haight (haight at fillmore)
          Masala if you are in the INner Sunset (there is also naan' n curry, but i prefer the atmoshpere and spending a bit more money for quality Indian food than n and c)

            The Indian Clay Oven on Clement in the Richmond is very good.
