Anyone been to Salt in Cambridge?

I have reservations there for New Year's Eve - Eve : )

  1. I was there about a year ago. It was very good, but we had to ASK for the salt (which came as a palette of several types).

    1. Do you mean Salts? If so, you'll find plenty of info by doing a search.

      1. We actually had a fabulous New Year's Eve dinner there a few years ago (I think it was under the previous ownership, though).

        In general, the food is excellent, though I'm less than enthusiastic about their duck for two. I think it's overpriced and nearly anything else on the menu will be better.

          I haven't had their duck recently, but I thought it was a good deal for $60, as the duck fed 2 at $30 a piece, and it was enough that we did not really need to order appetizers. In some ways I think of it as a very understated dish for the labour and technique involved, considering that the duck is completely deboned except for the legs and roasted just right. But it's a more rustic dish compared to the rest of the menu, so it's likely a matter of personal taste.

            I agree that the duck portions are more than adequate (iirc, we took quite a bit home), but I think that the appetizers at Salts outshine (at least some of) the entrees, and I wouldn't necessarily forego them. You're entirely correct about personal taste; one of the things I didn't like about the duck was the amount of duck liver in the stuffing - my husband, a liver-lover, didn't think he got enough!

        2. it's an amazing restaurant. small and very intimate, but the food i've had there is great and my friend has seconded me on his several trips there. We are both foodies from new york who love good food.
