Triumphal Palace/NY times article
Having been to Triumphal Palace twice for dinner and once for dim sum, I'd have to say it's good, not fabulous but good. The dim sum is very fresh, although it's a limited selection. For dinner, most of the same dishes can be had elsewhere that are at least as good, if not better, and cheaper. I actually prefer Mission 261 for dim sum, although my favorite order off the menu dim sum is at New Concept. I also think New Concept beats TP for dinner. Triumphal Palace on the weekends is also usually booked with wedding parties and if you can get in at all it is screechingly loud.
I went to Triumphal Palance 2 or 3 months ago and it was ok, but I didn't as excited as most people seem to. It could have been my ordering, and I am an expert at ordering the worst thing on the menu. I gotta say, I wish I had tried New Concept instead of Triumphal Palace, and intend to make my way there sometime soon.
The consensus about another restaurant in that article, Mission 261, is that it's ok/good, but for the $$ one can do much better.
I do continue to enjoy 888 Seafood on Valley.
