Homemade Marshmallows?

I'd love to try making marshmallows like the gourmet varieties sold at W-S and other places. Does anyone have a good recipe?

I had to stop making them because I would eat the entire pan in a day they are so good. I use toasted coconut, chocolate, powder sugar, regular sugar, sugar/cinnamon, chocolate jimmies, sprinkles... the list is endless.

I have used the just plain in my homemade hot chocolate!

My grandmother got into making her own marshmallows just a few years ago, and everybody clamors for them. One thing: Do not attempt when there is a lot of moisture in the air. They just don't solidify properly. Maybe this is a no-brainer for some people, but I was totally stunned by how much it affected them.

But definitely find some good chocolate to dip them in:-)

Looks pretty similar to the recipe HillJ found, with the exception of egg whites.

We tried several marshmallow recipes with our youth group and the link above produced the tastiest!

Warning, they are so easy to make; very addictive. The kids were dusting with all sorts of creative powders, flakes and sprinkles.
