HOT coffee /cocoa possible in NYC?

huruta Dec 12, 2006 12:07 AM

What is up with lukewarm coffee in NYC? Starbucks standard temp is a tepid 120 degrees here. Anyone know why? I'm from Seattle and though I don't frequent Starbucks all that often (here or there), the same coffee is a LOT hotter in Seattle. I've also had lukewarm hot chocolate and coffee in other places around town including at Jacque Torres. What gives? Do we Seattlites just like our hot drinks particularly hot?

probably because everyone is always drinking coffee while running around and spilling it on other people on the train.

Yeah, we're all about saving time here.. who can spare 5 whole minutes to let a hot drink cool down? ;)

Try Jack's Stir-brew Coffee (10th St. btwn. Greenwich Ave and Waverly Place) or 222 Front Street (south street seaport by the Bodies exhibit at Fulton Mall) - I too am a Seattle transplant and I love this dark, rich, HOT cup of coffee (NY magazine thinks they're good too). Jack patented the stir brewer machine so you won't find this cuppa joe anywhere else!
p.s. shame on you for expecting good coffee at Starbucks, seattlites should know better!
