On the "Overheard on the Boards" feature on the forums front page, a thread on the Food Media and News forum is listed first. Title of the thread is "Is Semi Homemade Bad on Purpose?". When I click on the thread title, I discovered that the thread had been removed.

Why would it be featured if it's not available to read?

The Overheard feature is not hand selected - it's automated, and unfortunately, the code that picks the items can't currently tell the difference between active threads and ones we've had to remove. We hope that will be corrected soon.
