Rum Macaroons

When I was a kid, my uncle used to bring back tins of rum-flavored coconut macaroons when he visited Atlantic City (In the pre-gambling days. I don't even want to know what he was doing there.). They were called something like "Macarums" and came in a red tin. This would have been about 35 years ago.

I'd love to reproduce these cookies. Does anyone remember these treats or can anyone help me with a recipe that might work?

Thanks.

I will bet you can duplicate them with rum extract in a coconut macaroon recipe subbing it for vanilla. The rum extract would have a bit stronger flavor than just rum.
