Went to Weird Fish today

new place on Mission and 18th street.. Loved it. I had fish and chips, the fries were both potato and yams, yummy. My bf had fish tacos with slaw and mango salsa. Cool spot felt like I was in the village (NY) style. Reasonable prices too. Oh skip the crab cocktail, not that good, but I am a snob when it comes to crab been a customer at Swans for 20 years.

      1. mmmm. Weird fish. loved it. Great almond dijon trout, calamari, fried pickles (yum!), salad and clam chowder. Plus had a sore throat and was so so ahppy to see they had hot spiced cider for only $2. finally a place where I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off!

        1. i was there last night....had a great meal. Catfish po'boy, pickle chips and my companion had the fish and chips. Everything was excellent..the batter is light and fluffy. Service was great.
It is a really small place. i can imagine on the weekend it will be hard to get a table but on monday night we were seated right away (not that there were empty tables we just happend to walk in as a table was clearing).

          1. Had lunch there today. I agree with most of the posters that it is a pretty neat place and the food is prepared fairly well. My problems were that I am not a bid fan of tilapia or catfish, or farmed trout, and though the prices weren't necessarily rip-offs, they certainly were no bargain either. $13 for 3-smallish chunks of tilapia & soft yam/potato fries or $11 for a smallish crab & bay shrimp sandwich with no sides won't have me running back. I did like the fried pickles and tartar sauce though, and the vibe and menu were interesting, so I'll likely walk back sometime soon at a my own leisurely pace...

I did like the fried pickles and tartar sauce though.

I agree, this was basically my experience there...pieces of fish so thin and small one couldn't taste too much "fish" underneath the coating...with all these positive reviews, I'm hoping that my earlier experience might be opening week problems, and they may have worked through these...I hope so...
