Tuscany Grill in Winston-Salem, NC...

This was a restaurant on Stratford Rd. near the Village Tavern. It opened in 2001 or so. Does anyone know if this place stil exists? I used to work here when I lived in Winston, but can't seem to find any info. about it. Wouldn't surprise me if it closed tho, mgmt. was pretty incompetent.

Ryans is still open. I have only been once but I was not overly impressed by the food. It is a steakhouse with great nighttime views

Yes, it's Ryan's and they are still open - it's still in the same location on Coliseum Drive. I haven't been lately, but I hear the food is still excellent.

I have a question. Years ago around '82 or so thier was very nice restaurant in Winston-Salem and all I can remember is that it was across the street from a TV station. When you turned in the driveway you went down into a parking lot. I think the name of the place was Ryans. Is it still in business?

Tuscany Grill is long gone. That location is owned by the local Greek restaurant plague. Winston-Salem has become a city of Greek run restaurants. They are mostly very dirty and serving very veery poor quality food. If you want real Italian food, in a decient atmosphere, you must go to Greensboro.

            Isn't Paul's run by Italians?

I am not sure if I am willing to paint one group with such a broad brush. I think in general Greensboro has better restaurant but that is due to a host of factors.

Also Royal Thai has been gone for maybe two years.

It is long gone. replaced by Jimmy's seafood. Tuscany did not stand a chance. I think they had a mediocre location and the food was just so, so. Only a step above a neighborhood pizza joint but if I remember correctly it was much pricier

Well, people in Winston were ok with paying money for not so good food, as is evidenced by Royal Thai and Noble's Grille. I think the Jimmy's Seafood that replaced it is probably a franchise location owned by the same guy who ran Tuscany (who also runs the two Brick Oven Pizzerias in Clemmons and Kernersville). I remember there was talk of him wanting to open a Jimmy's after Tuscany became profitable, but I guess he just decided to throw in the towel on Tuscany. I wonder if he kept the same manager though. That guy was a real incompetent.
