no immersion blender- help!

i have soup on the stove, but no immersion blender - I can use my regular blender right? it's a glass jar so it should be able to handle the hot soup...

  1. I've done it in the blender. Just be careful with the lid because it could pop off with the heat. My FIL has done it in the pot with a handmixer, too.

    1. Before I had an immersion blender I would just take the solids out of the soup with a slotted spoon and put in the blender with a tiny bit of liquid then stir back into soup. Made it less of a hassle than trying to blend everything, but i guess it depends on what you are making.

        The blender worked - it was a tomato soup (someone posted a link on chowhoud to foodtv...) with carrots and onions and celery...

        Turned out great, but it wouldn't have worked if i had doubled the batch like i had planned. just added the hand blender to my registry :)
