Dining Recs in Ventura?

My wife and I will be stopping overnight in Ventura next month on a driving trip from Texas to Oregon and would like to find a quiet, elegant place for dinner in which we can recover from an all-day drive. Northern Italian or French would be great, but not an absolute requirement. $ not as important as quality. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I suggest Cafe Zack at 1095 Thompson Blvd.
    in Ventura. 805-643-9445.
Ggod food and nice wines at a reasonable price

Hmmm. I wasn't so excited by Cafe Zack. It's a cute restaurant and the servers were very pleasant. However, I could not believe that for $19, I got a plate of penne pasta (not freshly made) with broccoli, spinach and chicken. While the dish was edible, I certainly could have made equally decent or better pasta at home with good ol' De Cecco.
