Used to live in LA and am coming back next week. had always meant to try that multicourse yuba place in, I think, Beverly Hills or West Hollywood that got lots of raves but always evidently was pretty empty. Does anyone know the place I mean? Is it still around? Is it worth going to?

  1. It's gone - it was called Ume no Hana. Probably not the right concept for Beverly Hills. I thought I heard they were thinking of reopening maybe in the South Bay, but I haven't heard anything since.

We ate there...or perhaps more appropriately: we experienced an interesting meal there just before they closed. The space was pristine and beautiful, with some very pricey art pieces, and the meal was the type of different experience that one remembers. They served from gorgeous boxes with lots of drawers and doors, and it was really an adventure. I don't recall if the food was amazing, but it didn't much matter.

Chowpatty, if you hear anything about their reopening, needless to say, please do let us know. I would travel to dine there again.

We ate there, too. It was superb - everything reminded me of the tidy little tastings I had in Japan. But it was mostly empty when we went. Sorely missed. Update us if there's any new info.!
