Cool, modern restaurant in Montreal

I'm looking for a restaurant to treat my girlfriend for dinner. She would like a modern, trendy restaurant that would require us to dress up a bit... We saw a couple of places in Old Montreal when taking a walk over there during the summer but didn't write them down. Budget is around $100-$150 including tax and tip... Any suggestions?

I've been considering Chez L'Épicier and Au Pied de Cochon, as well as Joe Beef, but I'm not sure if they fit the profile sought... any tips on that as well, please?

Thanks in advance!

  1. In Old Montreal, you can't go wrong with Le Club Chasse et Peche. Search the board. Many fine things have been written about it.

My favorite place to take a cherished loved one is Anise, a wonderfully chic restaurant in Mile End. The ambience is warm and soothing. The service is gracious and efficient. The cuisine is subtle and refined.

    1. take a taxi ( or a bus ) to L'Atelier on st-laurent ( a bit north of Laurier ), I think it's kinda' cool, nice decor, the menu consists mainly of appetizers ( or small main courses ), you can select about 3, or more or less depending on your appetite of them to make up a nice meal.
