tongue and tripe dishes east of La Cienega?

  • 5

Looking for good preparations that have either tongue or tripe -- Asian or Mexican or other. Preferably from downtown to La Cienega.

  1. Tacos de lengua at El Taurino, on Hoover at 11th.
    Tongue sandwiches at Langer's.
Tongue salad with canellini beans and salsa verde at Cut (not quite in your area, but among the most delicious things I have ever tasted)
Colombian tripe stew at La Fonda Antioquena
    Caucau at Mario's Peruvian seafood
Tongue and/or tripe barbecue at Sa Rit Gol

For the classic Sichuan cold tongue and tripe dish, you'll have to go to Oriental Pearl in San Gabriel

Don't you wish Oriental Pearl was still in business?! Closed around 2 months ago.

Both their old and the newer location were so good, wonderful Sichuan cusine and they always seemed to be doing a great business. I wish someone would tell me that they moved again and where that new location was! OK, I'll stop whining!

    2. 888 in Rosemead has a wonderful braised tripe in its dim sum lineup - rich and spicy, plus there's a nice fiery chili sauce that comes with it. Out of your area, but you never know...

      1. I haven't had it (I always have their dizzee, a lamb stew) but Canary on Westwood has a tongue sandwich. Had to offer something, as I love T. Adorno and often carry around manuscripts too.
