Birthday Dinner for me in Rye/Greenwich/Norwalk/Westport?

So my birthday falls in the worst time of year. Nobody can ever come to my party b/c they have already booked something for the Holiday season 2 months ago.Last year my birthday dinner was at a Diner b/c I didn't take matters into my own hands. Please help.

Anyway... looking for a great place for me and a couple close friends for Saturday night. Want something amazing but fun. Friends are treating me so I don't want to knock off there socks with crazy prices... was thinking Blue Hill till I found out how expensive it was.

Any ideas? I love any type of food and my friends are a mix of slighlty uptight manhattanites and just regular foodies.

  1. Barcelona in SoNo or Greenwich.

    1. Barcelona in Greenwich. Ruby's in Rye...both great.

      1. DW and I have been to Baecelona in South Norwalk (SONO) the last two saturday nights. Loved it. Head's up that they changed the menu to the winter menu last week and some of my favorite items got nixed for seasonal reasons and others have not been subjected to the Jfood review.

Add Baang on route 1 in Gwich near the stanform border for fun as well.

My daughter (21) tells me the G*R*A*N*D is pretty hopping in Stamford on Saturday nights

I'm not a huge fan of GRAND. I've been there only twice, but it seems that it's more of a hip bar scene with some food. Emphasis definitely on the bar. The food was pretty good, but nothing memorable.

Man, I still haven't tried barcelona. Some day soon, I hope...

        2. i've been to Barcelona multiple times and personally I don't understand all the hype. The food was ok and the service was bad. Overpriced tapas is so 5 years ago.

          1. Why not try Food & Co. in Stamford? Everyone's raving about it. For festive fun, we've been liking Los Cabos in Norwalk (near Stew's) and the Fat Cat Pie Company if you want simple, good pizzas, great libations and a casual atmosphere.

I love the Fat Cat Pie co. Had totally forgotten about it 'till I just read this post. Awesome pizzas, great wine list, nice selection of gourmet cheeses, and salads.
I also second the Ruby's recommendation. Very busy on Sat nights, reserve the community table for a party.

Isn't there a Fat Cat Pie Co. in Norwalk? I can't remember the name of the Spanish cuisine place across from the Fat Cat restaurant, but it is excellent. It's in a converted warehouse/office space type of locale, again if memory serves.
