Food Gift from Grand Rapids

Hi! I'm looking for a food gift for my mother in law who is originally from the Grand Rapids area. Is there any regional candy or baked good I could have shipped from there that would spark some memories? Savory is ok too, and I'm open to suggestions!

  1. Maybe smoked fish? Not specific to Grand Rapids but very popular in Michigan.

    1. Hmmm, was thinking more along the candy or snacky variety of gift.

Is this the area where the famous cherries come from in Michigan?

(excuse my ignorance! I'm a born and bred New Yorker)

      1. The area that is famous for cherries is Traverse City, (Northern Michigan). If you are okay with sending a Michigan centric product, try Michigan also produces delicous maple syrup.

Great minds think alike...Mich is one of my favorite places on earth.

        2. There's a company called "american spoon"...they offer jams, jellys and the like from products made in the great palm's quite popular in michigan, particularily on the west coast and they're damn tasty too...bit pricey, but worth it..

          ps.cherries are from traverse city

          1. American Spoon Foods is the best bet. For a Grand Rapids product, you might sent some Koeze's peanut butter - good stuff - you can order it (at a premium) from the Zingerman's web site.

Their gift packages are great. I always send out a bunch of American Spoon gifts to relatives around this time of year.
