In Shreveport on Christmas Eve

Family members are coming from points east and west to meet in Shreveport on Christmas Eve. We'd love something nice for dinner that night, as it's our only night together during the holidays.

Superior Steakhouse looks fabulous but prices are a tiny bit high for some of the relatives.

Any ideas? We're not familiar with the city.

  1. Definitely an interesting location. I grew up in Shreveport, but have been gone for ten years. My family is still there, and I'll be there between Christmas and New Year's.

    Here are a few suggestions:
Ernest's Orleans ---, unfortunately, the website doesn't have prices, but maybe you can call and have them fax the menu. It's pricey, but not as much at Superior. We're having my dad's 60th b'day party here on the 27th.

Ralph & Kacoo's is in Bossier, just across the River. We grea up going here, really good food -- cajun/creole. Not fancy at all, in fact, pretty casual.

I'd also suggest doing some research on the Casino's. I guess they have some really nice restaurants now, and I'm sure they're doing something special for the holidays. Here's a link to the Shreveport Times with a listing of all of the casinos.

Olive Street Bisto. It's been a long time since I've been, but it's a local favorite. So is Chianti, another Italian place with good food and live music (easy listening/jazz combo kinda thing) and dancing in the bar.

I've not been to Mabry House, but my parent's love it. It's on Irving Street, a 100 year old house converted into a restaurant. Sounds like contemporary American from what my parent's described.

I hope this gets you started. Have a great time.

    1. Thanks. We finally settled on William B's at my brother's, casino/hotel, Sam's Town. Sounds OK. I appreciate the help.
