Is the end of December too late to get good crab?

  1. Yes, if you are speaking of local crabs. July 4-Mid October is your best bet for good, Chesapeake crabs.

    1. Always a fun topic. The commercial crab season in Maryland is April 1 to Dec 15. Many contend that the best crabs are to be had in the fall...I tend to agree for the most part provided that its not a bad hurricane year.

End of December is too late to get a good local crab, but really half the magic is in the preparation, and gulf crabs prepared well beats no crab if you're visiting. Those of us who are around all year will wait it out til around memorial day at this point.
