Event for 150 people in South End/Chinatown/Downtown

I am putting together an event for 100-150 people and I wanted to get my fellow chowhounds' opinions on a restaurant in South End/Chinatown/Downtown with the following qualities:

1) Can hold that many people, with an adequate stage area for performances (enough room for 10 performers);

2) Food at about $20-35 a head, buffet style (since I get to pick the place, I would love to find somewhere tasty within the price range);

3) Ideally with a T station and parking nearby;

4) If any of these places have a good house band that would be the cherry on top, but it's not necessary.

So far I have thought of Chau Chow City, Estelle's, Sophia's, Slades, and Bob the Chef's. I would welcome thoughts on these and any other suggestions, ncluding some of the newer places in the south end that I haven't been to yet.

Many thanks,

  1. Sounds like you are looking for a hotel banquet hall, not a restaurant.

    1. there are chinatown restnts that do huge banquets for weddings etc.....

      1. The 3rd floor of chau chau city is setup for this with lights, sound system , everything.

        Also China Pearl is setup for this as well on both floors, they can actually do 2 parties like this in one night there.

        Hei La Moon has a stage area on the main floor too although i have not seen parties like this there before.

        I did a smaller event at China Pearl about a year ago with 40 people. In one of their smaller rooms. They did a great job. In your price range this included lobsters,whole fish, whole pig, apps, rice, noodles, beef, pork, etc etc etc...

        1. I really don't want to have to pay for space on top of food, because I have a pretty strict budget to stick to, and I'd rather spend the money on getting delicious food. Besides, if it's in a hotel, you usually have to pay for marked up and not so tasty hotel food.

          Thanks for the suggestions, I have spoken to China Pearl and CCC. am still looking for other options though.

          1. I think Chinatown definitely fits the bill. Can Bob's hold 150 people?
