Vecchio Roma disappointment

I hadn't been to this place for about a year and my daughter was really itching to go. So, after a great report card, I figured she deserved a special night out. Loved their bread with the savory olive spread! We split the Otro salad. Nice greens and goat cheese, but I was shocked that they bothered to serve some horrific pale pink tomato wedges with it. When the waiter came to pick up our salad plate, he asked if we wanted to finish the tomatoes. I commented that I guess summer was over, since tomatoes were lacking. He did not apologize, and said that sometimes they are good and sometimes not, you can never tell. We then split a seafood risotto that was a special that night. The shellfish were all beautifully fresh and cooked to just tender and the fish stock used had a hearty richness. However, it appeared that the same batch of feeble tomatoes were used in the preparation, yielding a fairly bland/lifeless sauce. Also, the risotto itself did not seem like true arborio to me... more of a medium grain. Are there different types of rice used? Still, it had a nice creamy texture that was reminiscent of a decent risotto.

The two dishes and a large bottle of Pelegrino came to $45 with tip. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things this outing, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed compared to past visits.

While we've always had a good meal there, the service seems to have gone down hill a bit (less friendly) and what used to be an outrageous specials menu has dwindled. I've never met anyone else who's been there more than once ...

Do I remember hearing that it's under new ownership?
