Ipswich or pisser clams in Manhattan?

My wife and I are going to be visiting NYC next week. She has a love of steamed Ipswich clams.
We will be staying in Manhattan.
Where should we go?

We usually go to the Grand Central Oyster bar while we are there but are looking for great clams and seafood.
I would like to go to Pearl Oyster Bar or Marys Fishcamp, but dont know if they have these clams on the menu.

What do you all think?

  1. Each has its partisans, but both Pearl and Mary's offer similar menus that include excellent steamed soft clams (from Canada, however, not Massachusetts). I can't imagine a better shared meal for two than Pearl's steamers, fried oysters, lobster roll, and whichever is the pan-roasted fish of the day. The individual portions aren't huge, so if you're really hungry, insert a bowl of chowder and salt-crusted shrimp at the beginning of the meal, and/or a piece of pie or a sundae at the end...and don't forget a side of haricots verts.

The steamers aren't listed on the web site, below, but invariably appear on the specials blackboard.
