Key West - Blue Heaven report
Decided based on CH and Tripadvisor reviews to dine at Blue Heaven last week - YUM! What an excellent decision. The decor and service were perfect. Chickens were present for breaky (we went back the next AM!), but not dinner.
App: Shared the caribean BBQ shrimp with cute corn muffins. Yummy.
Dinner - we both had the swordfish with sundried tom. cream sauce (a special) - sides = green beans, corn bread, mashed ?yuca. YUM.
Dessert = the MOST divine Key Lime Pie ever. Perfect - really!
Banana bread, eggs, home fries - v. good
Shrimp with grits - v.v. good.
I would go back in a flash. Their mojitos were awesome as well. Very laid back. At dinner we had live music & it was just a perfect choice. Highly recommended.
PS - I checked out the websites of some of the other rec's and they were just too formal/steak house-like for what I wanted in a Key West dinner. Not disappointed at all by Blue Heaven :-)
Thanks 1,000,000 TOH for transporting me straight back to KW's Blue Heaven! I was hoping for a shot of that water sistern bar they have, but your shot of the key lime pie more than made up for it! The sign shot was cool too...and that patio replete with roaming cocks is off the hook! Are they still out and about these days?
I wish it were a little closer to South Beach...
Just returned from a 4-day trip to Key West. Visited Blue Heaven twice, ate hamburgers, tortillas with jerk chicken, Caesar salad, shrimp melt, and drank mojitos. We had the key lime pie both visits. I'm happy to report that's it's all still great - the place, the food, and the pie. We talked to Theresa, the nice young lady who bakes the pies, and ordered a whole one ($30) in advance to take home (traveling by car).
