Koraku Ramen Sherman Oaks - Open (review)
We happened to drive by Koraku last night and saw that they were open so we went in for dinner. They just opened on Friday, its a very cute although small location. We sat at the bar which was nice because you can see them making the ramen right in front of you. We both ordered the Miso Yasai Ramen. It came with a lot of fresh vegetables (cabbabe, mushroom, corn) and a small amount of pork. The broth was nice although my husband thought it needed more of a miso taste. It was a hearty portion that left both of us full, although we both wish there was more pork. The noodles were very fresh and cooked perfectly. Overall it was a nice bowl of ramen and we are happy to have it so near by. We also ordered the Tako Yaki (octopus batter balls) which were excellent. Served piping hot with a nice sauce.
They have about 30 different variaties of Ramen, they also have yakisoba, rice dishes and a variaty of japanese entrees (teriaky, cutlets ect). We had a nice time, and will definately go again, especially to try the House Special Ramen (pork, shrimp, squid, eggs & veggies) and the Tenshi Chahan (fried rice with shrimp omelet on top) which we saw at another table and looked excellent. Its a great addition to the valley since we don't have many ramen places nearby.
(FYI - they are still getting some things set up so for now they only are accepting cash)
