Yum. Where can I get a good cup of tea and (more importantly) madeleines?

  1. Well, you'd have to have much more than a cup of tea, but at Cafe Boulud, in place of the ubiquitous mignardises at the end of your meal, they serve absolutely *the* *most* *sublime*!!! madeleines -- a basketful. If your budget won't allow dinner, go for lunch when they offer a 3-course prix-fixe for $24. Madeleines included, but not the tea.

    1. I haven't been there, but my son swears by Alice's Teacup, which is up in the west 80s I believe.

Alice's has two locations: W. 73rd St. and E. 64th St. Looking at the menu on their website, I see scones but no madeleines. Are you sure they have them?

I suppose they don't have madeleines if they are not on the menu. I've never been there. I believe the original post mentioned a good cup of tea, and that was what I was responding to.

      2. I'm pretty sure Alice's doesn't have madeleines, but their scones are out of this world. The best I've ever had. They might not be the truest, they seem moister than scones are supposed to be, and they're so much better for it! As to tea, their list is a book, and they're served in cute teapots with mismatched cups and saucers. Its a great place for girls' birthdays.

        1. Financier has amazing ones. There are 3 locations downtown - WFC, Stone Street and Liberty/William. Really, they are great!

          1. The best madeleines in NY - Payard Bistro. Madison Avenue - 70's.

Hands down. The rest of his food is sensational too.. and so civilized.. But what do you expect???

Alice's scones are excellent by the way --
