ISO CHICKEN FRIED STEAK, BISCUITS & GRAVEY, REAL MASHED POTATOS.....

What can I say, GF is from Texas and that's what she desires! We like The Pines and Pann's but would like to find some place new for an artery clogging feast!

Best & biggest chicken fried steak is at Claim Jumpers.

Taste of Texas in Covina. A schlepp, but more Texas you cannot be.

Nick's Diner at Pico and La Cienega does a pretty good version... Not sure about mashed potatoes though. I usually go with the grits.

I would reccomend Johnny Rebs, in Orange. Best Chicken Fried Steak I have outside of Texas.

it's a drive and a long wait but mrs. knott's chicken restaurant at knott's berry farm in buena park is really good and quite famous.

While I am usually loath to recommend this place, the Saddle Ranch on Sunset does a pretty good version for brunch.

I had it there last month, and it was awful. Lousy meat, little of it, and the gravy seemed like it came from a can.

The standard for this dish, in Cali at least, is places in Madera, Visalia, Mariposa, etc.

We make it at home at least once a month, and it is not hard at all.

Millie's has a chicken fried steak my husband is addicted to, but it's a breakfast/brunch thing. Their biscuits are ok... not great, but biscuits are hard to come by in this town so I've lowered my standards.
