Both Little Owl and August are great. You'll probably have a better shot at getting a table at August, unless your birthday is in January or later. Then you might be able to get a reservation at Little Owl. I wouldn't try either with more than 4 people.

Little Owl is so much fun! Probably one of my favorite places in Manhattan. My boyfriend took me there recently and it was unquestionably one of the best meals I've ever had... great atmosphere, too, and good cocktails. Haven't tried the other two on your list, though so I am biased.

I had a great meal at Little Owl a few weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure they only had wine and beer. At least that was the case when I was there. Has that changed?

Little Owl if you can get in. August next, but no reservations there. Bellavitae is also very good, but I prefer meals to small plates.
