I remembered 'hounds raving about this place in JP, specifically their rotisserie chicken so I picked one up last night. I think it was the last one left, the guy behind the counter cut it up for me. I also picked up a fried plantain.
All I can say is --wow. What took me so long? The chicken was delicious. A great blend of spices on the crispy skin. Makes me never want to eat Boston Market chicken again. The plaintain was crispy and sweet, a perfect accompanyment.
It wasn't cheap --$12.50 for a whole chicken and one plantain. But definitely good and I can certainly get a few meals out of the chicken.
I'll be back. Thanks for the rec, guys!
Is Alex's Chimi the place on the east side of Centre St., about a block or so north of la Pupusa Guanaca? It has like 2 tables and a steam tray? I was there once and got either empanadas or something like them; they had other sorts of meat products I didn't recognize and I was a bit intimidated to try. Any other suggestions for things to get there (in addition to the chicken)? What is a chimi, anyway?
