decent place for group lunches near Emeryville?

Greetings.

Once again, someone at the office near Emeryville is leaving and we are doing the farewell lunch. And once again, the selection is Pyramid. Sure, it's good for groups (we are about 15 or less -depending on the person :-) ), and it is not too expensive, they take reservations for groups, and they have beer. But let's be honest -the food is not so good (i.e. mostly lousy). Does anyone have some alternative suggestions that satisfy the above rough criteria? We have done Indian buffet for smaller groups.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I used to work in Emeryville (and attended many a farewell lunch during that time). We did Bucci's a couple of times, as well as Sea Salt, Vanni and 900 Grayson in Berkeley. How about Town House?

Wow. No wonder we always had the place to ourselves!

I organize a group brunch at 900 Grayson once a month. Everyone loves it; great food, friendly staff, and good beer on tap (as opposed to Pyramid). Their big table seats 10 comfortably, and 12 if you don't mind a bit of a squeeze on the ends. More than 12, and you should go elsewhere. Also, keep in mind that they have a small kitchen, and they make everything from scratch, so it can take a while for the food to come out. I usually order a few dishes to share from the Make Up Kit when you sit down so that people don't get antsy.

Have you done Khana Khazana (44th and San Pablo)? Fifteen might be large, but if you call ahead they can push tables together for you. And it's an Indian buffet...
