Via Emilia

Have heard wonderful things about this place for quite some time and finally tried it tonight. In a word--fabulous! The food was superb, service outstanding, and all of it in a clean, modern atmosphere. Extremely reasonable--3 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers and 2 pastas (all were incredible) for under $40 each with tax and a nice tip.
This place is a great find . . . . . . .

Agreed. Go for the homemade pastas. We've got some photos of a recent meal there on our site. You can't miss the gnocco frito-- it's legendary.

I loved this place when it was a homey place on Park Avenue South. But the new trendy setting bugs me, especially since they've raised their prices and still don't take credit cards.

The borlengo bread is a favorite of mine, i would put it on a "not to be missed" category.

I'm glad to hear that you liked Via Emilia! I'm planning on going there next week.

Would you (or anyone else) care to share your favorite dishes? Least favorite? I'm going with a few people so we can try a bunch of things. Any advice on wine?

          Thanks in advance.

Lambrusco di Sorbara. It's cold, red, bone dry, sparkling wine and it's excellent. One of the only places in the city that serves it. (Once I tried a bottle elsewhere and it was sweet! yuck.)

Via Emilia's best dishes are the homemade pastas. The lasagna is seriously delicious, and the pumpkin tortelloni in butter and sage is not too shabby either.
