Romantic Dinner for 2, Suggestions Please!

Long time reader, first time poster. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My fiance's birthday is next week, and he just got his work schedule figured out so that I can take him out next Wednesday. My only problem is that I worry I'm too late to get a good reservation (still scarred from years in New York). Price is no issue, but I really want some exceptional food.

We live in Pac Heights, but can get to most places for a good meal.

Thanks!

    Check www.opentable.com

Several places have space available next Wednesday, notably Acquerello, Ame and Bacar.

Acquerello's very nice, I'd go there for a celebration.

I like Bacar at lot but it doesn't seem romantic to me.

My last romantic dinner was at Sociale, on Sacramento Street, where we had a nice outside table, and had a delicious meal, with a wonderful wine list. And even with the cooler weather, they keep the temperature at a nice level. Candle lit table.....very special.

Don't know if you can get reservations, but, Cafe Jacqueline is great if you both enjoy souffles (the only thing it serves). I've always found the upstairs tables over-looking the bar at Jardiniere very romantic.

Frascati, Petit Robert, Venticello are all romantic and not too far from Pac Heights...I've also heard Quince is amazing but have yet to try it.

I found Petit Robert a nice neighborhood place with good service but not at all romantic. Here's my report:

You should be able to get into Azziza.

Fleur de Lys! There is both a 6:30 and an 8:30 opening. My favorite restaurant in the city and certainly one of the most romantic. And, my god, La Folie has both a 7:00 and an 8:00... that is my second favorite restaurant in the city and almost as romantic (though a bit less formal).

Acquerello, Ame, Boulevard, Fifth Floor and Jardiniere would all also fit your bill and all have availability...

FDL is my favorite as well - make sure you sit under the tent, and the food is getting better every time!

I recommend Chez Spencer. It's got a beautiful little courtyard (heated with strong heat lamps, although with this crazy weather it might still be too cold) and absolutely delicious food. Plus the owner and wait staff are great. I always recommend it to friends celebrating anniversaries and they always love it. I'd think you'd be able to get a reservation, no problem.
