How long do dessert wines stay good after they have been opened?... and is it different depending on the type? i.e. ice wines, port, sherry, etc.
The sweeter and more acidic, the longer they last. Both sugar and acid are natural preservatives.
Thanks for the info! Actually.. with that said, can you recommend a dessert wine? Something that is readily available (I'll be able to find it in regular liquor store or wine shop)... and isn't too expensive... $20 or under.

There are actually some very good dessert wines made on Long Island.
