346362 Tue Nov 28 17:23:12 -0800 2006 1 32 Chains 0 2052730 i love dan leader's book, bread alone. let me just get that out of the way. i got it a while back, have kept using it, and actually even used it last night. that being said, i have to say that his line of breads marketed under the BREAD ALONE label have kind of fallen a bit. anyone out there feel this way, too? i first became somewhat disenchanted by his workers' attitudes at the union sq market. whatever, right? those are just people selling his stuff - they are not the makers, right? well, i wish. i mean, the bread that i bought both there right at the market (presumable fresh) and the bread that i got at my local store here in brooklyn have been lacking in flavor, etc. i dont know, with so many new and exciting breadmakers in the market (especially with the EXPLOSION in tasty wholewheat ones) i think leader has to up his game a bit. One of the managers stormed out and quit while we were eating lunch at their new Rhinebeck eatery. Dan Leader is a nasty man who got too cocky .... his employees are merely a reflection on his very bad attitude.
