Last year I went to Barbuto Christmas Eve for the Feast of Seven Fishes and it was wonderful. I am considering going back but I would love to try another place. I know Lupa has it too and I am wondering what other restaurants are recommended for this? Thanks.

  1. Babbo is doing the dinner but there are no reservations left However, I was told you can arrive at 4:30pm and sit at the bar section or try your luck walking in at one of the 6 open tables they have. Del Posto also has an all-fish tasting menu on Christmas Eve

    1. And do any moderately priced places do it for the rest of us?

      1. Does anyone know if any restaurants are doing this *before* Christmas eve? I'll sadly be in Tampa for it this year and won't be able to partake down there. I know that the James Beard house is doing it this Thursday - any one else doing it ahead of time?

give lupa to check on special menus leading up to the holiday. i had a great prix fixe there a few years ago in december that wasn't the complete feast of 7 fishes, but seafood was prominently featured.

        2. We'll be attending performance at Barge Music and Saul is one of the few restaurants open that evening in Brooklyn. They're doing the Feast of the Seven Fishes. Very excited! We thought we'd try something different than the River Cafe.

Yipee! Perhaps our Chowpaths will cross.
Have you ever had this meal at Saul before?

and we're also booked there for Christmas Eve :)

don't know much about the xmas meal other than the price and that I've always had lovely meals at Saul in the past.

No -even though this is his 6th or 7th year of doing it I think. Many, many meals at Saul but never the 7 Fishes. I spoke with him when I booked and have already forgotten what he repadily told me was going to be on the menu - so because of my memory problem I will be as surprised as you.

Well then, it sounds like it will be a visit from the three wise Chowhounds (and their families) to the Feast of the Seven Fishes at Saul. Let's compare notes!

            2. San Domenico has a menu for it, my parents and I go there every year for X-mas eve...we usually do a la carte, but I know they have the option.

              1. The below is directly from Zagat's that I received yesterday. It lists ALL DIFFERENT PRICE RANGES as indirectly requested by a previous posting. Good luck!

December 24: Celebrate Christmas Eve Italian-style with a traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes. Patsy's is offering a spread with dishes such as shrimp fra diavolo and clams posillipo from the 17th through the 24th ($49 per person; 212-247-3491); similarly, San Domenico's four-course, Southern Italian fish menu will be available from the 18th through the 24th ($75 per person; 212-265-5959); Gusto is serving a full rendition of the feast from 5:30–10 PM ($125 per person, includes three wine pairings; 212-924-8000); Gonzo is featuring a four-course prix fixe menu with a pasta course and a choice of entrees such as stuffed calamari and bacala stew (5–10:30 PM; $60 per person; 212-645-4606); and Mario Batali's Babbo (212-777-0303), Del Posto (212-497-8090) and Esca (212-564-7272) are planning special tasting menus, the details of which have yet to be determined.
