If you want something out of the ordinary, and don't mind communal dining, try Maria, the guerilla gourmet. (http://www.cbc.ca/metromorning/beyond...) She does private dining at her place at times. All vegetarian, mostly local products. It's BYOW.

Just e-mail or call her, and ask if she can accommodate a particular date. I had a very memorable birthday dinner there this year. Good luck.

Splendido has an outstanding vegetarian tasting menu, and will prepare for any level of vegan. For my birthday, had an absolutely strict vegan in party, and he was thrilled with his meal. Another member ate dairy, and his menu was very different. Altogether a wonderful experience.
