Hi All,

I've sifted through the threads and see Rathbun's, Eugene's and a couple of others mentioned as top notch. What would you recommend for a special client lunch? We stay at the Twelve Atlantic Station when we visit [17th street NW] and the client is closeby. Given schedules, we don't want to have to drive too far but since I don't know Atlanta well yet, don't even know if this is an issue.

Price is not an issue for this lunch, nor is cuisine preference. Just want a great restaurant with good food and service. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

The restaurants you mentioned are both great restaurants. It'd be hard for me to choose between the two, unfortunately - they aren't open for lunch.

The AJC has a nice list of restaurants ( http://www.accessatlanta.com/restaurants/content/restaurants/diningguide/fall06/dgmaptop50b.html) You'll need to register if you haven't already.

Of those mentioned, and are open for lunch.

I'd recommend JOEL(joelrestaurant.com) (French), open for lunch Tues-Fri and Table 1280(table1280.com) (located at the High Museum of Art complex). Table 1280 is VERY close to Atlantic Station and since it's a part of the High, there are many directional signs showing you where to go.

Joel's pretty easy to get to as well, its a simple shot up Northside.

I also noticed on the Woodfire Grill(woodfiregrill.com) serves lunch now too.

I also LOVE the Globe restaurant but I don't know if it'd make a great client lunch place. Definitely check it out if you have free time though.

Bon appetit!

kajjiers, thanks so much. i didn't realize the restaurants i mentioned didn't do lunch; you saved me a lot of hassle. I will check out Joel & Table 1280.

if i can ask another Q. i've seen Globe referenced a number of times; what makes it not great for lunch?

thanks again for all your help; greatly appreciated!

You're welcome! I LOVE the Globe(try the tandoori spiced duck breast) :) Decent prices, great apps, nice atmosphere. But as Therese mentioned, not a price is no issue restaurant. It's just a bit more casual, surrounded by condos and Georgia Tech. Therese's choice Restaurant Eugene ( http://www.restauranteugene.com ) is a good bet too. I didn't realize they were open for lunch now.

It's at Huff and Howell Mill, about 1/2 mi as the crow flies from Twelve. Cliff Harrison and Anne Quatrano are two of ATL's original proponents of fresh, local, and seasonal. You could search (via Google) at ajc.com or creativeloafing.com for more info.

Bacchanalia would be my first pick if they're serving lunch, but they don't always (typically stop during the summer), and as per their web site (http://www.starprovisions.com/) they're not at the moment. But call and see, as the web site may not be up to date.

Restaurant Eugene actually has recently started serving lunch, and would be a great option.

Table 1280 would work nicely as well, particularly given the location.

The Globe is fine, but not a "price is no issue" sort of place. Decor a bit Jetsons inspired.

You should go check out Trois. It's the newest, hottest restaurant in town. Owned by the same people that own Lobby at 12 (also good), One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks, etc. Located right in midtown on the corner of Peachtree and 14th. Was there for the soft opening, but haven't been back. Should be a treat for your client.
