Ho Yip reopens
This may not be news to everyone, but Ho Yip has reopened at a new Liberty Street location. This was always my favorite Chinese takeout when I worked downtown, and I still maintain that they have the best roast pork in the city (although I'm always open to suggestions). I happened to be downtown today and had lunch - roast pork w/snow peas from the "Chinatown" line was as delicious as I remember. They've added a hot food bar, which is tempting because of the variety of things you can put on one plate, but which I will avoid like the plague because it can't be very fresh.

Where's Liberty St.? Financial District?

Yes, it is on the southern boundary of the WTC site, just west of Church St.

On fridays special, chicken thai is the best! Spicy and gingery. I have to learn how to make it. Please PM me if anybody knows the recipe sample for this.

Reviving this elderly thread to recommend Ho Yip's seafood noodle soup, a bargain for the area at $6.25. Very generous portion of fish cake, fish ball & squid, along with two jumbo shrimp, two kinds of greens, lots of scallions, and well-cooked (albeit kinda clumpy) thin egg noodles. The broth was too salty for me, but the broth in seafood noodle soup is always too salty for me.
The buffet looked tired and greasy, but the "over rice" dishes, particularly the fish fillets with soft tofu, looked pretty good.
