Best Chinese in Oakland? And Reccs for Alameda

I want to seek out the best Chinese in the area before I head back to the east coast.
Places in Oakland? The best? Suggestions of where and what to order?

Also- there is East Ocean and Chef's Wok in Alameda (where I am)- best bets on the menu?

i'd add Peony to the list...located in Oakland Chinatown, in the same center with the Oakland public library, on the second floor. very good dim sum

Shan Dong on 10th St. in Oakland is fabulous, but you've got to be a big spender and do the $1 upgrade to the homemade noodles -- wow!! Tremendous! Thick and delicious. Almost all of their dishes are great, notably the dumplings. (no dim sum).

East Ocean in Alameda is very good for dim sum.

Shanghai Rest. on Webster in Oakland is quite good, although a confusing place to order. Get the xiao long bao.

Per my HK Cantonese friends, the place that reminds them most of home in terms of authenticity is New Gold Medal (formerly Sun Hong Kong) in Oakland Chinatown.

I would add one more, Best Taste at 814 Franklin. Go with whatever specials they are offering. Good noodles as well.

We really like the dim sum at East Ocean on Saturday or Sunday. They do use carts.
