Mutti does KC: Meat Markets, Delis & Dim Sum

help out Mutti, coming up from Harrison Arkansas.
here's her plea:
like Dawnie I also am going thru withdrawals food wise. I moved from Miami to harrison Arkansas ayear ago; we have the world's worst access to good produce, meats, and fish; even springfield mo. has nothing special ,not to mention Sam's club which holds us hostage. I have just come back from a trip to Florida and visiting Costco warehouse. I want to come to kansas city to go to costco, so I would like some help on other good stores:
looking also for a good bakery that does bagel's, since I'm of german decent would like to know if there are any german Delicatessens and can anyone tell me where I can find a chinese restaurant that has dim sum, + where I can find a butcher that sells kansas city ribs that I can grill myself? I have many many more questions but this will do for now.
I've been wanting to come to Kansas city for awhile, have to go to my costco.ha-ha. Also to do some sight seeing.

  1. Real East Coast, not Midwest round bread, bagels are at Jersey Shore Bagels on Johnson Drive in downtown Mission. They're available at the Brookside Market too, but not as good as fresh at the source. Very close on Johnson Drive is Werner's, as good a German deli as you'll find in KC. I think Costco can be your source for the ribs.

    1. Whoops, I forgot to mention Bo Lings on Main Street as the best Sat / Sun dim sum.

      1. For a real meat market, you should start with McGonigle's Market ( which has been around since forever. It's about 2 or 3 miles southeast of Werner's and Jersey Shore, at 1307 W. 79th Street, Kansas City, MO.

        1. Thank you bbqboy for your help on reposting my letter, to you BChow and also heatherkay for all of your help, will be going to all the places you mentioned. Mutti
