Charlotte - near Ovens Auditorium - pre-theatre dinner

sorry, for some reason I thought Spamalot was at Blumenthal - so now I am looking for somewhere between our hotel (downtown - Trade St) and Ovens for dinner

Cuisine Malaysia Elizabeth Avenue, Charlotte, NC. Near Central Peidmont Community College. Never had the Susi there, but I understand it is good. The Malaysian food is great.

Second on Cuisine Malaya. It has been a favorite of mine since it opened 6 or 7 years ago. Sushi is good, try the Roti Canai appetizer. i can also recommend the basil beef, mango shrimp, the singapore noodles and the sea bass with snap peas.

Carpe Diem is good and a long time Charlotte favorite. This is its 3rd location. It has very standard fare.

I would go with Malaya for something completely different than all others.

I know husband won't go for anything spicy/risky for a pre-show meal. How about Carpe Diem or even Fuel Pizza? Also am seeing Dish and Creation on the map. Can anyone tell me about these restaurants?

Skip Fuel Pizza. I wouldn't describe Malaya as spicy at all, and not really risky. I haven't been to Dish but it seems to get good reviews. Inf act, I know mdatwood's Charlotte thread reviews it. I am not familiar with Creation. Carpe Diem would definitely be a good meal.

Creation has some great curries, must really like coconut milk to enjoy them, but it's a funky place in Plaza-Midwood, really great comfort food with a Thai twist. Cuisine Malaya good, too, but I'd go with Creation...close to Ovens, too.
