Rose's Cafe on Broadview

Don't limit yourselves to the Bahn Mi at this place;there are some very tasty ready-made meals on display, too, at reasonable prices.

Agreed. They have quite an assortment of treats around the cash register (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves; spring rolls; various buns; etc.). The prices are fantastic!

How do these prepared items compared to those available at places on Spadina?

Sorry, xtal. I've not shopped for these items on Spadina so I can't really say how they compare. Perhaps someone else?

I've never been to Rose, but have always heard lots of good things about it. Is it a pho place, a restaurant, or just a banh mi pick up place like Nguyen Hong on Spadina?

Not sure of their whole menu, but mostly like Nguyen Hong, mainly banh mi and other prepared things.

the lady at the cash is rude, i don't kno what her problem is. she acts like she doesn't need my business. the banh mi was alright, won't be going back until she appreciates her customers

Yeah I never get great service there, they don't care to ask how I want my Ban Mi nor do they listen when I specify (I got a dismissive nod and smile, but not the requested heat). Plus I don't really like being talked into buying more spring rolls than I asked for. My own fault of course for giving in, but I find them pushy.

yea exactly, my experiences are similar. no more then mi nod fow acknowledge either. it makes me sad that so many places are ruined by bad service in small chinatown b/c it's my neighborhood. in my experiences, i don't get this rude treatment in markham or scarborough's little places or supermarkets. some my argue it's more authentic but i'm left desiring more.

I've never had bad service here. Always friendly. And the banh mi was wonderful, especially since it only cost me $2.
Absolutely the best take out value in the city.
