Best Pecan Pie in the Bay Area??

Hi everyone,

Just in time for Thanksgiving I am looking for a great pecan pie to take home with me. Any suggestions?

The pecan pie from Duarte's in Pescadero is my favorite.

Where were you when I needed you? I have to buy a pecan pie today but don't think I'll go that far to do it (I was much closer yesterday, on the Peninsula). I'll probably get one from Woodland's Market in Kentfield. I remember really liking it some time ago.

I got an Upper Crust pecan pie instead, hot out of the oven at their bakery in San Rafael. I'll report after tomorrow.

I can heartily recommend the pecan pie from Upper Crust (found in many grocery stores, at least in Marin). Lots of large pecans with a filling that has a deep, rich flavor. Crust was good, but really I didn't notice much about it because the rest was so good and strongly flavored. Interestingly, this morning I had a piece of pecan pie made by a friend using a receipe from Cooks Illustrated and it was at least as good; a bit different but also great.

Beckmann's. The catch is you can get it only at their farmer's market location if they have them there, like in Los Gatos, or at their bakery in Santa Cruz.

You might try Walker's Pie Shop on Solano in Berkeley/Albany.

Their crust is definitely not great.
