Suntory Whiskey?

bernalgirl Nov 21, 2006 04:14 AM

Does anyone know where to find the higher-end Suntory whiskeys in San Francisco or nearby? I'm looking to buy some as a present, and the Suntory website is useless on this count. I've tried K&L and BevMo. I'm not sure where the best whiskey shops might be, so thanks for any help.

Give Draeger's a call. They have a deep collection of very high-end liquor and wine (I think the Menlo Park location is your best bet). This weekend I saw an 1806 Cognac for $5200 -- not exactly BevMo's territory.

I would check D&M on Fillmore. Higher end liquor store with a large selection of brandies and single malts, so maybe they have what you're looking for or can point you in the right direction.

You know, I never even noticed they have hard alcohol. I'm always browsing the wines. Thanks for the tip, that's even convenient to Japan Town.

Japantown's probably the best place to find it.

Anyone know of a liquor store there? I've never noticed one. But that's a good thought and I'll give a try.

In the past I remember seeing it at the Japanese market on Post. If they do not have it they will know where to get it.

            That's where I think I've seen it.

Check with the John Walker Wine Shop (downtown on Sutter between Kearny & Montgomery).

Their Web site lists one $100 bottle:

Give K&L a call too. They specialize in wine, but have a nice selection of spirits and have a focus on quality. There is one on 4th street near Townsend.

She already tried K&L. Their inventory's searchable on their Web site.

FYI, there was a discussion on Japanese whiskey on the Spirits board. This is the link:

You might ask the bartender at Nihon on 14th/Folsom where you can find the nice bottles. They have a large selection of Suntory on their gargantuan whiskey list.
