Looking for a Large Private Dinner Room for Birthday Party?

briang1 Nov 20, 2006 10:31 PM

My wife's 30th birthday is coming up and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that would have a private room for about 30 people or so. People have recommended Carmine's but we've already done that there before for different parties. Looking for any and all suggestions. Would prefer Italian but we'd be open for anything. I know Carmine's had a package for about $60 a head with house wine but we could go over that if need be. Thanks for all advice.

The Blue Ribbon Restaurant in the West Village (near Ino and the Blue Ribbon Bakery shop) - it has a great area downstairs for more initimate groups. It's also much cheaper than it's Soho sisters.

    Blue Ribbon Bakery
35 Downing St., New York, NY 10014
    at Bedford St.

I threw a surprise 30th birthday for my husband at Heartland Brewery (Times Square location). It seems 'budget' to do it at a place like that but it was a wonderful, private space in the back, the food was excellent and the servers were really attentive (we even had 4 kids under the age of 4 that they took care of very well). Lots of menu choices - I think it was around $40/pp, and don't forget in NYC there's an extra 20% upcharge on most of these per person costs, which will get you up to $60 before you know it!
