Hey folks, I am looking for some good Ottawa recommendations. I'll be in town on business in early December for two days and I'm looking for some good places to have lunch and supper. I'll be staying downtown so anything within walking distance would be best. I've had some great meals in past years in the Byward Market so I'd be especially interested in recommendations for that area.
Can anyone help? Thanks!
I should add that while I'm on an expense account, it's not that generous. I'd like to spend around $10-$15 for lunch and $30-$40 for supper.
For a quick and easy lunch, you could try Marroush International Shawarma at the corner of Dalhousie and Rideau. In my opinion, they serve the best shawarma in Ottawa. Their vegetables are always fresh, and the man behind the counter is very nice (speaks about 5 languages too). Marroush is very reasonable; a donair or beef shawarma will cost $4.50 and a chicken shawarma costs $5.
I recommend La Favorita in the Italian district in Ottawa. You can find them in the phone book. Excellent pizza gourment stone baked. I use to drive up to Ottawa from Toronto just for this pizza....no kidding...Tour boi
Here are some of my picks for reasonably priced chow in the NCR:
1. Pho Thu Do on Sommerset - there is lots of pho to choose from on Chinablock but this one is the best. Lunch for 6 bucks!
2. Chez Lucien - great après work place for a pint and a fantastic burger that will only cost you 8 loonies.
3. Casa do Churasco - a Portuguese chicken place on Dalhousie, very close to the By Ward Market. Very fresh, always cheap.
I am gonna say it again, I love Whalesbone (gladstone at bank). You could absolutely get a glass of wine and some beautiful oysters within your per diem. Have fun!
The Manx Pub on Elgin would fit your per diem and is a good place both for lunch and/or dinner.
