Leftover shell steak?
Hey foodies,
Any ideas what I should do with shell steak? My repetoire is limited, and the only things I can think of is either tacos or grilling (and I already grilled it last time). I want to get more creative, and I know you are all the right people to ask. Also, it'd have to be a relatively quick dinner (~30 minutes?)
Thanks!

Oh gosh, you can do anything short of play frisbee (and even then....hmm...) with shell steak. How about a Steak Diane (or a rather bastardized but nifty version of it?)
Shell steak sliced to about 1/4 inch thick
1/3 lb. butter
1 1/2 lbs. mushrooms (anything but white button--I really like portobelo or shiitake or oyster)
Worcestershire (1 tbl.) or Lea and Perrins to taste
A good drinkable burgundy (1/2 cup...save the rest to drink)
Garlic (lots of it...I use a few cloves, maybe more, sliced thin)
Shallots (about 1/4 cup, sliced thin)Melt butter in pan with garlic and shallots. Saute. Add mushrooms, sliced thin. "Tan them" until they start to tenderize but don't let them burn. Add the steak and cook it rare. Add Worcestershire and wine. Cook down a bit.
Crusty bread and a nice salad goes well with this. Because everything is sliced thin, it cooks quickly too.
