That's the Sabra Grill, on 419 Grant Avenue, which is actually just inside the Chinatown gate, upstairs. It's an unremarkable Israeli-style grilled meats sort of place. There are also several Izzy's Bagels, which are kosher and have pretty good bagels, muffins, spreads, etc. According to Shamash.org, whose restaurant database you should definitely take a look at, there's a new kosher deli ('The S.F. New York Deli') run by Chabad in Embarcadero Center, and a few other options in the general area, such as Berkeley and San Jose.

Izzy's in SF has been sold and is no longer kosher. I have heard the deli is OK, though there really isn;t a large sitting area; it's more of a takeout place. If you're going to be down in the South Bat (near Palo Alto) there is an Izzy's on California Ave that is kosher and also has pizza, soups, etc. Izzy's is also opening a deli in Sunnyale (about an hour from SF). Probably beginning of June '07.

hi, we just returned from s.f. and were at the ny deli 3 times. friendly people, quick service and fresh, delicious ingredients. they have sourdough and wholegrain breads and very filling deli sandwhiches. tuna sandwhiches also. soup was good. seating outdoors. there are only 2 places in sf. this and the sabtra restaurant in chinatown, so you will be seeing a lot of these 2 restaurants!
