looking for a thanksgiving meal at a restaurant to please vegetarian and meat eater?
my husband and i are vegetarians, his parents are not, we are looking for a place to eat on thanksgiving.
fancy is good, i already know about l'espalier...looks great, but we are hoping to spend around $60 rather than $85 pp.
thanks in advance,
We decided to go out this Thanksgiving and decide on Sel De La Terre.($56 per person.) They have the menu on line, so you can look at the options and see if there is something that will appeal to you.
With set menus, it is not only that they have an option but that they have an appealing option.
I trot this one out a lot, because it's the kind of place I might go for a restaurant Thanksgiving meal: Caffe Umbra in the South End. It's upscale without being formal, and the chef does Thanksgiving with a nice balance of tradition and her normal rustic French and Italian proclivities. See www.caffeumbra.com (no Thanksgiving menu online, though).
Better still, its regular menu gives more than lip service to vegetarians, and presumably also will on Thanksgiving; vegetarian apps are especially strong. Also, Joe C. is back behind the bar most evenings, a superb bartender and server, and a big reason we're back visiting regularly again.
Ten Tables is a great rec, maybe the best fine-dining deal in town, a very charming place with a great-looking vegetarian tasting menu (seems like half the room is ordering it whenever I visit). That is, if you can possibly get a reservation this late: it literally has ten tables.
Ten Tables has a divine vegetarian prix fixe. It's much, much, much more casual than L'Espalier - think neighborhood place rather than fine dining.
Most places will work with you for vegetarian options - I think of Clio and Craigie Street Bistrot, but their menus rarely reflect that.
