40th Birthday Dinner

My 40th birthday is Wed. My husband took me to Venice last week to celebrate (we had great food, but that is for another post). I sort of feel like I'm done with my birthday, but my husband thinks we sould at least have dinner out on Wed. He suggested Craigie Street or Rialto, but I want something more casual (as my grandma would say, something not so "fancy"). Any suggestions for a place that would be fun? As of last year, we had been to most of the "in" places, but since last Feb. (when we had twin boys) we haven't tried much new. We live North of town, but are fine with coming into Boston or Cambridge. Thanks for your help.

    Hi

If you live north of the city I would suggest Catch in Winchester. Its casual but the food is excellent and it is nice place to celebrate a birthday.

Definitely go for the mac & cheese at Zon's. Love the atmosphere there!

What about something intimate, but not too fancy like Ten Tables in JP? Or funky, but not loud, like Zon's in JP?

i'd add dali's in cambridge for tapas and lively atmosphere, and then there's bob's southern bistro for great fried chicken and jazz in the south end.

eastern standard, neptune oyster, bouchee, penang, central kitchen, rendez-vous, bin 26 enoteca, blue room, chez henri, bricco (although, the girls are gone so i'm not sure how the food is anymore)...

Oleana, Helmand, Dali, or just pick your favorite place and get your favorite dish, with dessert, of course.

I felt just like you on my recent 40th birthday. Wasn't up for something too fancy, was really just looking for simple, casual, GOOD. We went to Trattoria Pulcinella, in Cambridge, and had an excellent meal. I had Amatriciani perciatelli and it was fabulous. Very authentic. I'll see if I can post a link to the previous thread.
